“We’re in luck: at77, Charlotte is still with us!”

Yes; I read something about her a month or so ago.

She was quite the free spirit back in the day.

Heard ‘Georgy Girl’ much of my life and about 15 years ago and with computer looked it up and was bowled over by the Seekers. Judith was incredible and add in all those setbacks you mentioned. Absolute gem. Actually all of the Seekers to be honest.

So, subsequently, my wife and I found the movie and watched it one day. Seemed like pushing the envelope for 1960s, but that was about when all that started.

Judith Durham, the singer of the song just died last year at 79.

In 1968, The Seekers did a kind of video biography of their story. Very entertaining. 55 minutes.

Judith really preferred gospel and jazz, and was a devout Christian. Aside from earliest performances, she was always dressed extremely modestly.

I always liked James Mason, very talented. Saw the movie recently on my Roku.

“I sort of took The Seekers for granted but gained respect for them later.”

I know what you mean. It was just highly rated pop music when their records came out, but, like you, I gained a lot more respect for them through the succeeding decades.

That’s a very sad story about Judith Durham.

Wow, great video and superb audio quality. Do you think that was the actual take or was that staged?

The harmony of the four is just incredible.

I love watching great musicians play like that without ridiculous theatrics.

That song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

Thanks for posting that link!

There’s a “performance art” exhibit at a museum in Tel Aviv with Charlotte Rampling. It’s a short film of her in a blue Care Bear suit, talking seriously about something. The Care Bear suit is nailed to the wall and dripping blue paint.

It was the weirdest thing I saw in Israel and there are some weird things there!

Indeed. I remember this tune as a kid. You couldn’t go anywhere for five minutes without hearing it.

I think the Seekers were one of the most under rated groups of their time. There's Youtube videos of them that explain how they arrived in Europe from Australia and their subsequent rise to fame.

And here is a Youtube video of the group performing what I feel is the most poignant and beautiful song they ever recorded.

And what is most amazing is that it was recorded in 2014, over 50 years after they made their debut in the music world and the wonderful Judith Durham never lost her beautiful voice. This song actually brings tears to my eyes.........

The Seekers - I Am Australian: Special Farewell Performance

RIP Judith, you were golden.......
