If you want to REALLY get an idea of how the war’s going, looking at all of the pro-Ukraine articles in the past week.
Hmmm...where?
Still looking, where did you say?
Yea, where?
Oh, never mind.
For some amusement, from those guys in the Institute for the Study of War, DC:
"The rapid Ukrainian breakthrough and advance that many hoped for has not occurred. Media coverage has grown gloomier in recent weeks on the back of fragmentary journalistic accounts from the front and reported intelligence assessments from Western analysts. The news has not been great. The fight against Russia has proved to be bloody and slow — a very hard slog."One observes that the co-author of this opinion is the brother-in-law of everyone's favorite, Victoria Nuland. It's a small world."Opinion - Ukraine's counteroffensive might yet surprise critics," by David Petraeus and Frederick W. Kagan, Washington Post, August 24, 2023.

And something "might yet surprise" because .... surprises, don't you know? Like Saudi Arabia and Iran joining BRICS+ on the same day. That was a surprise. Or Germany's coalition government wanting to disenfranchise about 20% of the electorate. That was a surprise. Or over debt racing toward $33 trillion dollars against of GDP of about $25 trillion. That's a surprise? Well no. That last one is a tragedy.
