That’s about 3 grades too late.
Somebody needs to be fired and it’s not just the teacher.

In 5th grade I was reading James Michners “Hawaii” and McKinley Cantors novel “Andersonville” both well over a thousand pages each, no pictures except for the ones in my mind.
