We called Datsuns the original Japanese car made from recycled beer cans. Changing their name did not get rid of the el-cheapo aura. Rental fleets love the things.
Seems the beer can analogy still holds true. The newer ones I have rented were not too bad, but you would never mistake it for a Toyota or Honda.
My wife fell in love with a bright red 2009 Altima. A real piece of crap. Will never buy another Nissan. Even she came to hate it.
I had a Nissan once. There was a banging noise under the rear of the car. I thought it was the exhaust pipe or muffler. I took the car to a muffler shop which shall remain nameless. They replaced the entire exhaust system - big bucks. I left the shop. The banging noise returned. It wasn’t the exhaust system at all. The mount for the rear shock absorber had rusted away from the wheel well. Not the frame but the thin steel of the wheel well. It would have cost $850 to repair with no guarantee that the repair would last.
I haven’t trusted Nissans since then. Haven’t been back to that muffler shop either.
