He was actually quite the athlete in High School. Hollywood definitely corrupted him.
Yes he is. I will give him that.
That he didn’t overdose or destroy his heart muscle is great, but I see him more as lucky than anything else. He didn’t do anything more substantial than fortunately not having a constitution that might be more vulnerable to the effects of his stash of cocaine.
And in that, and not getting some bad cocaine, he was fortunate indeed.
When SNL was actually funny!!
My absolute favorite comedy of all time had to have been “Liar, Liar” with Jim Carrey.
I have not been able to watch it for years now. I just can’t. It makes me a little angry. Kind of the way I felt about OJ Simpson and the Naked Gun movies. Ruined them all for me.
And Roger Waters for Pink Floyd’s music.
I just cannot separate those things. People tell me I shouldn’t let those heinous personalities ruin the things they have done, but...I cannot get around it. I just can’t.
I often wish that I could. I really do.
and today?
Jane Curtain was the first television launched, “Karen”.
I still enjoy watching Belushi, Akroyd, and many others from that era. I still like "Caddyshack", but that is in spite of Chevy Chase.
"Try these on for size, Connie Chung!"
So many fat guys were/are great comedic actors: Jackie Gleason, Oliver Hardy, Belushi, John Candy, Jack Black, Chris Farley, Rodney Dangerfield. I’m sure I missed someone.
Fatty Arbuckle?
I’ve watched that countless times over the years. It’s getting tougher to watch as time moves on for all of us who are around their ages, especially the part about Gilda. But funny in its way... love the dancing on their graves.
What's wrong with Chevy Chase?
That was the 70’s. That wasn’t even worth a mention. The “breasts have swagger, freedom days.
Chris Christie?
He’s a joke anyway.
I was going to include him as well, but I never saw him, even in films. But likely another example. Oh wait: WC Fields should’ve included as well.
They are certainly in a great deal of pain and trouble while they are addicted. But if they can recover (a big if for a lot of people), they are better (wiser) than ever.
Overcoming addiction is a greater and greater challenge for humanity because, for the most part, civilization has gone bat-guano crazy. Why be sober when the sober world is nuts?
I have known a lot of addicts. The big question for them is always, will life be any better if I am clean and sober. In 2023, the answer isn't exactly clear.
They all need to shut up and do their job..You can write your book after you’re washed up...
Definitely. I liked his vacation movies but it’s a shame that he leaves a legacy where he is known for being a total ass personally.
