Wow. That’s around $40 an hour. My first real job was in 1972. I made $2.50 an hour. That’s about $18 an hour in 2023, after factoring in inflation.
I feel that I’ve been ripped off! I demand back pay, an apology, and a food voucher.
Oh, and free ice cream too. That would be nice.

BTW, wages at
McDonald’s back in 1974 were $1.95/hour, which works out to $11.78/hour in today’s money. What a difference two years makes.

My first real job was in 1972. I made $2.50 an hour.What were you doing?
In 1970, 15 years old, I started at $3.50 an hour doing farm work.
By 1971 was at $5 and hour, 1972, $7 an hour.
In addition to shoveling cow crap and haying, I was troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining the farm equipment.
Then went in the USAF.
