There’s a very simple solution.

Police are called and all doors are locked automatically.

Employees and customers are herded into safe rooms.

The simple solution to all of the snatch & grab shoplifters everywhere is a double-exit system with a door-in only system. One-way doors going into the store... the only way to get out is through one set of doors that enters into a glass-enclosed area that is monitored, 24/7, by security. If you have not paid for your items you do not get OUT of the other set of doors or out of the store. You wait until police or security arrive. I’ve seen a similar set up at an Aldi store, although not for the purpose of security. It’s an easily solved problem yet they can’t seem to figure it out. Maybe because the idiots making the top decisions are too “woke” to do what is necessary.

Now some might say that would be an expensive over-haul and renovation to already existing stores. But... would it be more expensive than what they’re already enduring via ever-increasing crime?

I recall during the Covid-19 “pandemic”... a similar concept was used by Walmart, which had only one way in and one way out, which was monitored constantly by store workers, just to see if folks were wearing masks. If they could do that for a stupid virus, they could also do it to combat shoplifters, as could other stores. Adding the glass enclosure to the one exit only would add that extra layer of security once the crooks knew they couldn’t exit without paying.

One of the security companies I worked for for 15 years made a an entry portal for banks. It was an attractive fixture and consisted of 2 doors with a fair amount of space between. It was all enclosed with BR glass. BR is bullet resistant. On command both doors could be Mag locked at once. Its referred to as a Mantrap.
Might be worth consideration in retail locations.
