Day 542: 19 Aug
Russians Admit. Ukrainians STRIKE Russian Military Airfield and DESTROY 2 Supersonic Bombers

In today’s agenda of the war between Russia and Ukraine, we will witness the historical attacks, explosions and fires that took place in Russia in the last 24 hours.

All these actions seriously affected the course of the war.

While UNEXPECTED events took place at the Novogorod military airbase between Moscow and St Petersburg, anxious hours were passing in the Russian capital.

In addition, the Russian people and army were witnessing a great chaos and desperation today with the striking explosions and actions in the Novorossiysk port on the Black Sea side of Russia, the Moscow Airports and the Novogorod Military Air Base.

Here are the unbelievable details of the last twenty-four hours that have suddenly blocked Russia.

Over the past few months, Russia has REPEATEDLY ACCUSED Ukraine of hitting occupied military targets on Russian soil, for which Kiev often does NOT take direct responsibility.

But Ukraine remained SILENT in the face of allegations that it targeted Crimean cities, the Kerch Bridge and some Russian cities.

Today, a brand new air raid on one of the most important military air bases in the Novogorod Oblast between Moscow and St. Petersburg has eclipsed these claims. All attention suddenly turned to this critical settlement, which is between the two most important cities of Russia.

Moscow reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a drone attack on a military airport in the Novgorod region of northern Russia. After these critical statements, tensions increased significantly in the region.

Images of the smoke rising from the military facility were posted on the internet. At least two Russian Tu-22M3s carrying X-22 missiles were destroyed in this stunning attack.

Officially, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu acknowledged damage to an aircraft. It is possible that the Russian Ministry of Defense has traditionally underestimated their losses. Because, residents of the Novogorod region and some Russian media reported that at least two planes were on fire.

According to data from international services, the Tu-22M3 long-range supersonic missile bombers, which were not damaged at the Russian military base in Novogorod after the attack, were dispatched to Olenya, Murmansk Region.
In total, according to the monitoring groups, there were about 10 Tu-22M3 units at the airport.

While Russia bombed Mariupol city of Donetsk in 2022, Tupolev deployed these Tu-22M3 type warplanes to Novogorod military base.

Although the Russians acted comfortably in this regard, thinking that the Ukrainians have not attacked this military base or Novogorod until now, the shocking attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have also destroyed these taboos of Russia.

So why did the Russians think that the Ukrainian forces would not target Novgorod?

The Novgorod region lies between Moscow and St Petersburg and unlike Russia’s border regions has not been targeted since the beginning of the war. According to local media reports, the airspace targeted in the attack was in the town of Soltsy, about 80 miles southwest of the region’s capital, Veliky Novgorod. The distance from the borders of Ukraine to Soltsy is at least 675 km.

The Russians thought that this distance would not pose a great danger. But in fact, Ukrainians have Soviet-era jet-powered UAVs with a range that can exceed 1000 kilometers.
In addition, with regard to UAVs, Ukrainians have the capacity to reach much more than such distances with local production and Western support.

We think that the fact that Novogorod has not been targeted until now has pushed the Russians not to take any action in this regard, but Ukraine seems to have managed to teach Moscow a historical lesson with surprise attacks.

Novogorod is not the only place where Russia has learned lessons on the Ukrainian attacks. Russian cities are almost completely on fire these days. Ukraine ‘s attacks this time hit the heart of Russia. Explosions were also heard yesterday in Odintsovo, Trekhgorka and Krasnogorsk near Moscow. It was stated that the cause of the explosions was drone attacks.

For the first time, all Moscow airports were closed due to the drone attack. It is reported that the work of all four airports in Moscow is currently completely suspended. Due to the closure of Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Zhukovsky airports, the routes of seven flights have changed.

I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the five hundred forty second day of the war.

Day 542: Aug 19

Today there are a lot of updates.

First of all, today in the morning, Ukrainians struck one of the most important Russian airfields that is used by strategic bombers Tu-22m3. The airfield is located in the Novgorod region, which is almost 700 km from the Ukrainian territories, and, according to Russian sources, it was targeted by Ukrainian drones.

Judging by the footage, at least one drone managed to hit the target and cause a fire. Some sources claimed that Ukrainians managed to destroy up to 2 Russian strategic bombers. Russian analysts once again criticized the fact that Russian forces do not even try increase the security of their airfields.

On top of that, in was reported that a Ukrainian flag was raised in Novgorod, right in front of the Russian secret services building. Even though such an operation did not inflict Russians any losses, it amplified the news about the successful Ukrainian drone strike near this city and also diminished public trust in the ability of the Russian Federal Security Service to provide security.

Today Ukrainians also reportedly conducted a missile strike on Crimea. Russian sources reported that Ukrainians used one modified ballistic missile S-200. Russian media published footage of the crater left by the intercepted missile. In previous strikes, Ukrainians used several missiles at once and usually combined it with a drone strike. The fact that this time Ukrainians used just one lonely missile indicates that they are testing the Russian air defense in the new region in preparation for hitting new areas on the peninsula.

Yesterday a huge fire broke out in one of the Russian Black Sea harbors in Novorossiysk. Russian sources reported that the fire rapidly spread and reached a square area of 1300 square meters. Some sources claimed that due to an unspecified accident, wooden pallets caught on fire and burned everything around them.

There was reportedly no drone strike at the time, which gave rise to speculations about sabotage. And this is not surprising. Given the most recent developments, it seems like a huge network of saboteurs works in coordination to undermine Russian war efforts by damaging critical infrastructure such as airfields, harbors, railroads, bridges, and factories.

In fact, the same day, Ukrainians struck another Russian harbor, this time in Berdyansk, which is used for shipping a lot of equipment to the southern front.

Several days ago, Ukrainians also struck a science and engineering center “TEMP”, which is developing crucial technology for manufacturing weapons. The goal of this center is to reduce the reliance of Russia on imported technology and make the military-industrial complex as independent as possible. Local residents reported hearing explosions, although even Russian analysts are still uncertain and claim that it was either a drone strike or sabotage from inside.

Unfortunately, Russians conducted a similar strike. Today Russians conducted a missile strike on Chernihiv, more precisely, they hit a theater with an Iskander missile. As it turned out, Ukrainians were making a drone show where different developers had to demonstrate developed drone technologies and possibly get attention from the defense ministry. As a result, there are more than 100 casualties, including at least 12 children.

Despite the fact that it was an open event, Russian sources claimed that it was a closed meeting and that Russians killed up to 60 Ukrainian and NATO officers. Regardless, the bottom line is it was not a smart idea to make such an event a public show, especially in the city that is located just 40 km from the border, as the air defense has little to no time to detect and intercept the missile.

Ukrainian fighters and commanders viciously critiqued the responsible person, who reportedly made this event public to generate publicity and promote her political career in the defense ministry. The event definitely gathered attention, so seems like now her career is over.

In the meantime, 200 Ukrainian troops just finished the 12-week training program on Abrams tanks in the United States. Since the tanks are not ready yet, the soldiers will continue staying and training and soon return to Ukraine with 31 Abrams tanks.

Simultaneously, more Ukrainian troops are training on Leopard tanks in Germany. As of now, Ukraine is waiting to receive 100 Leopards.
