GPS down?

Probably meant her cell phone, acting as a GPS through the cell towers, was down.

Very few people use a dedicated GPS anymore. The vast majority use the cell phones, which also act as a personal tracker, allowing anyone with access to the cell information to know exactly where your phone has been, and for how long.

Putting the cell phone in airplane mode does not stop the tracking. It just shuts off the phone from reporting to the cell network. Once the cell phone is connected back to the network, it uploads all the GPS location data of where the phone has been to fill in the gaps of when it was disconnected from reporting to the network.

Only a Faraday cage, which stops the phone from receiving location data, stops the phone from keeping track of its location.

That is the way I evaluate it.

If you had all the maps and stuff downloaded on your car GPS, it likely still worked.

I would entertain the concept this was set to destroy property to allow it to be sold for one reason or another at less than market value.

But I also thought this was a strange account.

“Never mind, Jake. It’s Hawaii.”

Hey folks,

Going with only what I saw on the weather channel since the beginning of all this, I remember seeing all the weather radar over the area with parts missing or not working, which hid a direct view over Lahania during the fire.

Does anyone remember this? And of so, was their ever an explanation?

GPS signals are very weak and can probably be jammed easily.

I saw videos of the winds. The high winds blew down a power line and started a fire.

What a wing nut. So many transplants that move out here believe that they have healing abilities and are on a higher spiritual plain than the rest of the common people.

Lahaina is NOT the largest seaport. All cargo ships and cruise ships dock 30 miles away at Kahului. The power was out because of downed lines, and the lines were setting off more brush fires.

Lahaina is used for whale watching boats, snorkel cruises, and sunset booze cruises. Lahaina also has very few, if any people who own property that are of Hawaiian descent. Lahaina is mostly white. In the outlying areas, there are a mix of white transplants, Asian immigrants, and local born residents descended from Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, and Portuguese sugar plantation workers that newbies think are native Hawaiian.

The Japanese plantation workers in particular, saved up their money and brought real estate and held on to it. There is a lot of mixed race all over the islands. If a local resident has 1/100 Hawaiian blood, they are quick to tell you that they are Hawaiian, since being Hawaiian gets all of the white transplants to think that you are godlike. Crazy? Yes, but true lol. Anyway, the Lahaina commercial district with all of its chain restaurants and tee shirt stores is mostly white and local Japanese owned.

Also, many times hurricanes drift toward the islands. When they veer off to the East of the islands, in Hawaii it produces awful humid and sticky stagnant air. When the hurricanes pass far to the south, which is rare, they produce dry, constant winds.

I’m sure that the recent transplant that wrote the article hears voices in her head regularly.

I am going to post more of her writing. Believe at your own risk ... but if there is shred of truth or if it make politicians look bad, I expect LI to pull it as "disinformation". Even if she might be a New Age whack job.

Then the winds came in, bringing with it a rare rainless hurricane with gusts from 60-80mph. Trees became uprooted and branches were coming down everywhere, along with power poles. I heard a crash behind me and where I was less than 30 seconds prior was a crashed and uprooted tree. It was time to get out of there.

No evacuation sirens ever went off that day when the fires began. They failed as well. My friend and I had to escape through the back road going all the way around the island as all traffic was blocked in the other direction. Many might not have known about this back route since GPS was down.

These fires were indeed strange. The night before both my friend and many others claimed to have had very restless sleep. I personally experienced a strange flooding wave of energy in my head, almost like seizure activity, which I have come to identity as dark energy coming in. This flooding energy continued on and off the next morning, more so when I was in Lahaina. This told me there was directed energy involved in what was occurring.

This was not just a random act of mother nature. It reminded me of the strange fires in Paradise, California a few years back which swept through and wiped it off the map. Their only crime was getting in the way of a high speed railway project slated to come through the town.

A little bit of history to draw your own conclusions: Historic Lahaina is the key harbor seaport on the island. The Lanai Ferry goes back and forth from there, all the commercial snorkeling and scuba diving firms set sail from there and tourists flock there in daily droves.

It's not unusual for weather radar to have blank areas. It's wholly dependent on terrain and location. I'm in Albuquerque, and our weather radar here can't see east of the mountain chain that abuts the city nor can it see west in some areas due to the continental divide. We're in a hole trying to look out. Depending on where the radar units are located, the mountains/hills in the area may be blind to many parts of the island.

While paying attention to post #28 from Garden Island, here is the rest of her posting from LI:

The problem with Historic Lahaina was that it had a large old Hawaiian community that was in the way of the developers. Now it’s like ground zero, declared a disaster area, and federal and states rules are probably going to be tossed aside. It’s a toxic mess. They will undoubtedly blame it all on climate change and welcome in the developers to totally bull doze and level it.

All over the island tracts of land are being bought up by corporations and no one knows who is behind them. Foreign interests? The people on this island are beginning to put the pieces of the puzzle together and suspect this was a major power land grab.

In January 2023 there was a Smart City Conference where they discussed turning Maui into a 15-minute “smart island”. Next month there is a Digital Summit to discuss turning the island digital and all AI. I kid you not.

Fires started in the agricultural lands upcountry first, the bread basket of Maui, and resources were sent there first, so Lahaina, when it happened, had few resources to fight the wall of fire that swept through the entire area trapping hundreds who could not get out and sadly perished. No sirens warned them to get out either.

Right now Maui needs your spiritual prayers more than ever to strengthen the land against these destructive forces. So many people are missing or homeless. We are not out of the woods yet. There are still ongoing fires.

The old Hawaiian Ho’oponopono prayer chant to the ancestral land is: “I’m sorry. Please forgive. I thank you. I love you.” Please give in the Aloha spirt with your contributions, love and prayers. Forward this to others who might want the truth. Mahalo.

No. Oprah has a home 30 miles away. She has no interest in buying commercial properties lol.

There were brush fires all over the leeward sides of the entire chain last week. Most were in remote areas. It happens literally every year, but rarely reaches residential areas.

The palm trees in particular are like big sponges. A live palm tree would take much longer to burn down than vehicles with encased gas tanks. The melted building everyone points out likely had wood siding and flammable roofing.

> GPS down?

> How is that possible?...............

imho ordinarily it would not be possible. however, the common end-user internet map download interfaces (google, mapquest, apple, etc) would not work if there is no internet. reports are that the cellular towers ceased functioning. the cellular towers supported cellular internet used for cell phones. the author probably was experiencing the cessation of cell phone internet data coverage. she may presume that GPS is down because she cannot run the GPS map interface on her cell phone, and not because GPS itself is down.

however, the GPS map feature on automobiles should work OK. Perhaps the question that could be asked is if her friend’s auto had a GPS map feature, and if so, whether or not that worked. If the auto GPS map feature did not work, that could be something different (and potentially much more ominous IMHO, although I would prefer to wait to see if more info on that is forthcoming before jumping to extreme conclusions).

the author seems to drawing the conclusion that nefarious powers are at work at lahaina. i not averse to conspiracies, but i am being gradually attracted to a different conclusion, that maui and other hawaiian islands have governments that are historically inept and corrupt. the result of the corruption is that inept bureaucrats are appointed to seemingly innocuous but in fact important positions, especially in areas that are typically sleepy in nature most of the time, such as emergency management.

Inept management occurred in 2018 in Kona with the fake missile alert as well as with the abundant mistakes in the lahaina fire. the responsible bureaucrats in the lahaina fire case seem so far not very good at covering their tracks, unlike what one might expect in a true conspiracy which imaginably would be designed and carried out in a manner that protected the responsible parties involved. for example, the top maui emergency administrator was ostensibly attending a boondoggle like conference on the day of the lahaina fire. we actually do not know yet if he was physically present at the conference presentations themselves, nor do we know if he was actually reachable during the conference, if anyone from his office or any other office tried to reach him, who if anyone else from his office attended the conference along with him, and so on. we do however know that his qualifications for the top emergency administrator job seemed to consist almost entirely of political connections, as also seemed to be the case for his deputy. he had held the job since 2017 during which his lack of competence went apparently unnoticed. the trend seems primed to continue since the guy was allowed to resign without apparently having answered any questions about his last two days in office which were during the emergency. In other words, the skids are pre-greased for another incompetent or corrupt bureaucrat to take his place, corrupt/incompetent politicians who supervise him seem to be on track to becoming insulated from any incipient scandal since he seems to be the primary designated human scapegoat, and corruption and mismanagement in maui government seems destined to continue as usual for at least the short term. By Ockham’s razor, then, the simplest explanation is usually the best, and this ineptitude seems to be the simplest, so perhaps it is the most likely to be correct in this case.

Aside: one can certainly draw parallels between other fires and the lahaina fire which on the surface seem to arouse suspicion of nefarious causes for the lahaina fire. however, this may ignore other parallels, such as the contention that both fires were caused by falling power lines that were not then turned off before starting brush fires. Again, Ockham’s Razor may help. If both fires had similar starting conditions, then similar results might be expected, without the need to resort to conspiracy theories.

I’d like to say this is unreal but I know it’s not. Evil forces all over the world will be walking on the skeletons of those who perish in their quest for World Dominance. If this is the beginning of the end I don’t know what is. Gods blessings on those who survived.

Not only the author but the commentators as well.

Are we becoming completely populated by a generation of flower child nuts? These are the people who Jesse Waters would interview or the ones outside the theater that Letterman would interview. They seem to becoming not the exception but the common.

The hurricane was to the south of the islands and far enough away not to bring any rain, but there was also a very strong HP system to the north. The islands were between these two systems and the pressure gradient between the two caused unusually high winds which knocked down power lines, sparking fires in several locations that after long drought conditions where tinder boxes and the high winds spread flames and embers.
