Really interesting interview. Cross actually dubbed for Jimmy Page in a Led Zep concert. Interesting talk about his work with Larry Carlton, Steeve Gant and other great studio musicians. His work with and how Michael McDonald performed with him.
Also, his admiration for Steely Dan and how he learned from Joni Mitchell who is one of his favorites. His respect for Pat Metheny.
Sounds like a great guy, a great musical trip, someone I share musical interests with for sure.

You never know, sounds like they all hung around each other on many occasions. Cross said some of these gatherings were simply unbelievable with all the talent.
The guy that mixed those tracks must have played in a Mariachi band.
I used to hang out with Chris back in the day in Houston when he was in a band called Heather Black. They played in Houston downtown in old Market Square..
Cool, he seems fairly normal...
Mixing is an art. Beato's review of FM's Rumors, who he hims and haws as the best album of the 70's, he illustrates some vocal mixing with reverb at a trail off of Nicks singing on one of the songs.
It’s definitely an art & can give you a sound that could never be duplicated in a live setting, which kind of ruins it for me.
Not for me, I expect albums to be produced and enjoy the live concert versions as well.

Yep, the interviews are enjoyable. Beato's analysis is hit and miss, some great, others too technical for me. I leaned alot about Cross in just this short clip, and from the horse's mouth which is nice.

My favorite is “Think of Laura”. My daughter’s name was Laura, and it describes her perfectly. I cry every time I hear it.
I love hearing these folks talk. Many are much deeper into music than you might imagine. Which is probably why their products are so good.
Singer, songwriters and talented musicians - not alot of that combo today.

On April 3, 2020, Cross... tested positive for... COVID-19... but was recovering. Cross later reported... that he had lost the use of his legs, but his doctors told him he should fully recover... his COVID-19 disease triggered an episode of Guillain–Barré syndrome that caused the nerves in his legs to stop functioning properly. By October 2020, he was able to walk with a cane, but said his memory and speech had been affected. In 2021 and 2022 he played his 40th anniversary concert tour, which had originally been planned for 2020.—Wikipedia
His fingers were still working, he played a song or two.
A few years back Perter Frampton announced he would no longer tour due to a muscle disease. A friend saw him at Bethel woods a month ago and said he was saying that his hands are working, but not his legs, so he'll continue playing :)
You are correct, sir. I always loved that ethereal sound of the guitar work on Sailing. Sounds almost like a harp. Had no idea he is 72 years old. Still has a youthfulness about him.
