Who will go to prison, Biden or Trump?
Washington Times ^ | 14 Aug, 2023 | Richard W. Rahn

President Biden and former President Donald Trump are now in a legal death match, where, for either one to stay out of prison, his opponent will probably go to prison.

The Biden Democrats have made no secret that they are willing to do almost anything to put Mr. Trump behind bars. The necessity of locking up Mr. Trump for Mr. Biden and his family to remain free has become even more acute given the added evidence of wrongdoing by the Biden family.

Mr. Biden has to be reelected to be certain that no member of his family, including himself, is convicted of any felony with prison time or, if convicted, pardoned.

Mr. Trump has to be elected for him to be certain that the Biden Justice Department will not continue to pursue him until they have a conviction on some felony with jail time.

Mr. Trump already has three indictments against him, and he will likely have four in a matter of days. These indictments are in different jurisdictions for different alleged crimes, and each indictment carries multiple counts.

The risk to Mr. Trump is that, if even most of these indictments are political and without real merit, a conviction of a few counts on any one of the charges could put him in the big house.

To assume that his lawyers will be able to get all of the charges tossed or for Mr. Trump to be found innocent on all charges is a bet that most people would not want to make.

(Again, remember that Mr. Trump will face different juries — some of which are likely to be hostile

SNIP

Mr. Biden is in an equally difficult position if he does not win reelection. Mr. Trump is unlikely to forgive the hell he has been put through.

“The bad thing is that the ‘RATs know how to navigate in the sewer system.”

1). Most judges are left leaning or at least more loyal to their status and benefits in the system than to the Constitution and rule of law.

2). Most of these trials will occur in areas where population is skewed left or far left and the bureaucracy is anti-Trump. Prosecutors, working within the left leaning judicial system should be able to ensure a jury with a high anti Trump bias before the trial.

3). The trials are being scheduled to ensure Trump and his attorneys are fighting multiple trials within a few weeks of each other while each individual prosecutor has a large team of professionals focused on one thing - getting Trump. It is likely the prosecutors in the different cases are all coordinating their activities to make it as difficult as possible for Trump’s attorneys to put on an effective defense.

4). Trump’s legal teams are second or third tier in terms of expertise and quality. The top law firms and legal talent will not work for him due to ideology, the negative impact on their careers, and/or Trump’s reputation for being a difficult client.

5). The national media is the mouthpiece for the prosecution. Its job between now and the trials will be to convince the American people that Trump is guilty and must be put in prison to save the nation and preserve the integrity of the justice system. For 60-70% of the people in the country, the mainstream media propaganda will be their only source of information and perspective on the trials.

6). The Republican establishment is eagerly waiting for the first conviction so it will have an excuse to deny Trump the nomination. Romney and others will immediately be calling for Trump to leave the race and for the RNC rule he cannot have the nomination. Expect multiple states, as soon as one conviction comes down, to take his name off the primary ballot and pass laws denying convicted felons the right to run for office until after serving their sentences.

Trump has the deck stacked against him. The major question today — Will Trump will be carted off in handcuffs the minute the first conviction comes down, or will he be allowed to stay out of jail while appealing his conviction?

The second question — If Trump is taken straight to prison, will he receive the Epstein level of care? Perhaps Biden will withdraw Trump’s Secret Service protection, claiming the guards in federal prison are adequate.

With four indictments I don’t see how Trump escapes a conviction for something. Appeals will drag it out. I just can’t imagine him actually serving time. Probably croaks first.

Nothing happens to Joe Biden. Everything is focused on his worthless son. I’m not sure what happens to him and really don’t care.

I believe that neither of them will.

Trumps pile of “jay-walking” felonies is to keep him OUT of DC and the White House. After the 2024 election, it won’t matter anymore and everything will be dropped. It’s all just a nasty game.

Biden SHOULD be in prison, but he’s in “THR club” and The club is never gonna prosecute one of their own - especially at his age. They’re even having a hard time making it LOOK like they’re seriously investigating Hunter! (which is all it really is..)

But from the outside world - looking at the USA, imagine any other time in history where both guys running for President are also up for prison while running.. it’s a bizarre situation, unheard of in this nation before.

Trump's election will do nothing to stop the prosecutions/persecutions from the NY and Georgia DAs. Those are state charges. He will have to beat all of those charges in court - and the Georgia charges involve so many other people that it's hard to believe some of them will not end up testifying against Trump to save their own skins.

This is a weaponization of the legal system by the Democrats that is unprecedented in this nation's history.

My take, as of now:

“Chance of Trump going to prison: 50%
Chance of Biden going to prison: 0%

and

Chance that Trump willfully broke the law: 0%
Chance that Biden willfully broke the law: 100%

(I had to say “willfully” there because there are tens of thousands of vague federal laws. People break them all the time without even knowing it.)“

You’ve painted a beautiful picture of truth here!

The Rats will stop at nothing to keep Trump from being elected and I would not rule out assassination if all these phony charges are not enough. These phony charges are designed to at least tie up Trump from campaigning or keep him off the ballot in some states. It should be obvious that this is planned election interference on par with some totalitarian state. The fix is in and Trump cannot hope to win the election. He should tell his supporters to support one of the other candidates and campaign heavily for that candidate.

Newt said last night that Trump is not a “candidate” but the essence of a movement...the soul of America....and that is why he will remain strong.

I believe this is so and wonder when we will start protesting. Particularly if our State wants to remove his name from the ballot

Exactly right on all counts. The steal set all of this up. The GOPe can sit back and be smug thinking they have rid themselves of Trump. What they have done is condemn themselves to being a permanent and shrinking minority party. This may be what they want or they really are that stupid.

Those people are too stupid to realize that they’re next. If the Democrats can easily steal a presidency and indict a presidential candidate, they can more easily do the same thing to a governor or a senator.

You know there is not a chance in hell Trump would do that. It is a shame none of the others had the strategic thinking to stand with Trump and to go all out against the rats for using the courts to interfere with the election. That candidate would have been positioned perfectly to step in as the revenge candidate if the rats take Trump off the board.

“Trump is history imo”

More like America is history. The empire has fallen. Now it’s just a matter of time for the repercussions to take place.

Pain is coming. Life will be nasty, brutish and short.

Neither one. The Intel community will take care of their poster boy Biden, and the rest of the voting population will vote Trump back in as 47.

Biden will more then enough evidence of crimes there are non on Trump unless freedom is speech is a crime as the democrat party are trying to do.

Trump is the fear factor the democrats have of their part being dissolved.

Neither one is going to prison. I think maybe Joe has already been dealt with. I mean how many times does Trump does have to refer to Biden as “he’s shot” and point a finger to his temple?

“Trump’s election will do nothing to stop the prosecutions/persecutions from the NY and Georgia DAs.”

Well, except for the fact that he would then enjoy Presidential immunity, so even if they convicted him, they couldn’t take him into custody.

Zero chance that Joe Biden goes to jail.

Trump?

Close to zero, but not Absolute Zero.

Hunter may have to do some time, but in home confinement or a Halfway House setting.

It is still election interference by the ‘RATs. The thing they accuse Republicans of doing.

A couple of years ago it would have seemed impossible for a former President to end up in prison. But the Democrats have been gradually getting people used to unprecedented actions--raiding Trump's home, then piling on indictments.

My guess at this time is that they just want a conviction before the election and are not committed to actual imprisonment (although they would be happy to see that happen). But it depends on how they judge the public reaction. If they think they can manage and suppress any public outrage at Trump actually being sent to prison, they will probably do it. The Fulton County indictments may be the most dangerous because there would be no hope of a pardon, so any conviction will have to be overturned by a higher court.

If half the country is outraged by how Trump is treated but is powerless to do anything about it, that just makes them happier. I'm reminded of George Orwell's line about a boot stamping on a human face. They would revel in the pain of any Americans who aren't on their side.

From accounts that old fella who was murdered out in Utah and it was murder at the hands of the FBI was sending a message.
