PINE HILLS, Fla. - Four people were arrested after a woman was kidnapped, tied up and put in a dog cage in Orange County over the weekend, according to deputies.
The woman in her 40s was taken and held against her will in an attempt to get information from her about a potential stolen item, according to an arrest affidavit.
She managed to escape and ran to a nearby home for help, deputies said. She had minor injuries.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested four suspects: 37-year-old Monica Latresis Reed, 19-year-old Damon Andrew Tromp, 21-year-old Kevin Rudolph Holmes and 39-year-old Cortez Marenzo Bernard Jackson. They all are facing charges of armed kidnapping and false imprisonment with a weapon.
Reed is facing an additional charge of aggravated battery with a firearm for pistol whipping the victim, deputies said.
According to the affidavit, on Saturday, the suspects kidnapped the woman, duct taped her hands, feet and mouth and put her in a dog cage inside the shed behind a house near Barnett Place and Emeralda Road in Pine Hills.
Around 2 p.m, deputies responded after the woman knocked on a neighbor's door begging for help, saying she had been held captive at a nearby home.
The suspects were arrested following a six-hour standoff.
Tromp, Holmes, and Jackson appeared before a judge Sunday where they were read their charges.
Reed is set to have her first court appearance Monday morning.

Yes it’s them again. As if there were any doubt.
Sugarloaf Mountain, Iron Mountain and Hickory Hill come to mind. There’s another off 528 near Cocoa Beach, don’t know if it has a name. Not big mountains but each over 250 ft above sea level with Sugarloaf at 312 above.
when the movie is made, the perps will all be played by white actors.
That's getting to be, pretty much, true....
Of course. Everyone in Hollywood knows that blacks are the wisest most law abiding segment of the population.
What did the victim look like?
Charge the thugs with murder!
I believe the woman was found dead, hanging in the dog cage. The report is messed up.
Different story. The picture you posted is of a woman who died in Dec 2022. She is NOT the victim in this crime.
Mods need to remove the photo.
32-year-old Shonna Sue Powell was found hanging inside her jail cell. My mistake was calling her the victim who escaped the cage and ran to the neighbors. This article describes the victim as black, but her name was not given.
I misread the article and thought the victim was found in the cage hanging and died.
I am old enough to remember when Pine Hills was an ordinary neighborhood on the west side of Orlando full of orderly white working class families. Now it is so bad that in 2017, the local Pine Hills Walmart was the scene of the murder of a heroic black woman cop. Going into the Walmart, she recognized and confronted a murder suspect, who promptly pulled a gun and shot her dead — at 7:15 in the morning. This being Florida, the shooter was caught and is now on death row.
I remember that. She was not only a good cop, she was (by all accounts I saw) a really good and kind person. That was one of the few times where the neighborhood actually assisted in getting the bad guy. Very sad.
A tiger cage.
Voodoo zombies or the Walking Dead?
Or perhaps, relatives of that vampire from the Last Voyage of the Demeter.

The Law and Order episode would whitewash too.
Another reason why the neighborhood helped was that the shooter, Markeith Loyd, was a suspect in the murder of his pregnant girlfriend. Loyd was eventually convicted of that murder as well.
Yes, I had forgotten about the girlfriend. Such a waste of life but a great example of how these neighborhoods could be cleaned up with cooperation. I don’t get why people will choose not to cooperate and instead, live in a war zone.
