When you absolutely, positively need to be somewhere at a certain time, don’t use an EV.

“The good news is, this whole ordeal was avoidable.”

Sort of like the total collapse of modern society due to leftist politics.

Surely this knowledge will assuage our pain, as we beat our laundry out with a stick down by the river, or warm ourselves ‘round the burn barrel.

Thanks a lot, fellas

I assume that you mean ‘Tacoma’..............

I once ran out of gas in my Tundra. Had to pull the 5 gal. gas can out of the tool box and pour more gas into it so that I could get to a gas station, but only after I finished my weekend chores about town.

It was the most horrifying roadside minute of my life.

What's funny is that the few people who have solar and an EV out of distrust for government (like I do) are the few people who work them efficiently.

When I looked into getting solar and later an EV, the prepper minded people were the only ones I could get real world specs and tips for customizing to various situations. With everybody else it's about either how best to virtue signal or how best to tell yourself over and over the lie that you're saving the world. And with most of the leftist followers who support solar they're not wanting to do it on their own homes. They're wanting to do it on the grid. To me that's scary -- the grid should be nothing but dependable power. But to them it's an easy cop out: they want their ideals implemented as long as someone else has the burden of figuring out the impossible. Us conservative minded folks are used to figuring out things on our own. That's why solar tends to work well for us.

And the Model T didn’t have actual roads in many places, just wagon ruts....................

however even that can be interrupted by bad weather.

Eons ago, I had DircTV ... when I really needed weather information, weather could be relied upon to block the signal.

I am scolding myself for wasting the time to read the article and learn what I already know.

As an engineer, I found the article fascinating. I also find accident reports fascinating ...

This has been a major “oops” that EV companies are discovering—most of their “woke” target audience does not have access to home charging.

Wokesters "dead" by the roadside are much less annoying than those running around loose!

They don’t want you to use energy? They will simply prohibit you from paying for it. You won’t be able to go to a hotel. Won’t be able to buy gas or electricity, or even purchase food.

Hmmm...something sounds familiar about that...

Revelation 13:16- "And the second beast required all people small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, (17) so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark— the name of the beast or the number of its name."

Good for you. Seriously. YOU have decided to do this. You are a perfect example of someone who can take advantage of a new technology because your circumstances are right. THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE.

This mirrors a conversation I had earlier today with someone who chooses to mask against COVID. Do as you wish, so long as I don't have to follow.

“Sounds like a giant PITA”

Not as bad as hitting zero on I-94 in a blizzard with 120 cars stuck ahead of you and the National Guard dropping off gasoline.

My life is stressful enough. I don’t need this, but the government seems bent on subjecting us to this.

It is much worse than the stress of owning EVs.   The global elites and complicit government intends to subject us to 15 minute communities where we will own nothing and "be happy."

The average person would likely have found a safe spot to pull over long before we did, and unlike a combustion-powered car running out of gas, it didn't just quit suddenly.

Gas cars don't just suddenly quit either. You'll get some coughing and chugging and wheezing before you die. May not get 20 miles of that, but you'll have some distance to go, and can easily refill when that happens.

Diesel though, definitely don't run out either. That'll be quite the pain to fix too!

Our son recently leased an EV. He spent over $2,000 installing a level 2 charger in his garage though now has a separate meter for the charger that gives him a lower rate for electricity…I surmise the rate is subsidized by the rest of us. He also has a charger at his work so for in town driving so far so good. However, he has yet to experience driving his EV during a bitter cold Minnesota winter. He recently took his EV to his wife’s family cabin in northern Minnesota…about a three hour drive in an ICE vehicle. The trip took D-Day like planning to get to a charging station along the way adding maybe a half an hour to the trip for a recharge. Once at the cabin it took another 20 minute trip to a local Indian casino for a top off charge and then another recharge on the way back. Note our family cabin is a little further north and takes about 3.5 hours of travel time in an ICE vehicle allowing two brief comfort stops including one to top off the tank at a gas station that usually has a cheaper price for gas. Our son was recently in a rear end accident that did substantial damage to the rear of his EV. While the vehicle was still drivable many of the back up sensors were damaged and the mostly plastic body had tearing damage. Our son estimates the repairs will cost the other guys insurance company north of 10 grand. No word on whether there was any battery damage which could mean totaling the EV.

We will be required to lick the bugs off our windshields to get the protein we need, and they are going to restrict our ability to get the bugs on our windshields!
