I’m guessing “so” must be the red diaper doper version of “umm”

They're probably Marxists but I was pointing to effeminate men.

We have a masculinity crisis in America and indeed the West. I live in NYC where the problem is particularly noticeable.

About 15 years ago (where does the time go?) I took a nonfiction book writing course. There were about a dozen in the class but only one other dude. He was around 30 and his book was about 'what it means to be a man in the 21st century.'

I, a guy in my early 40s, could not figure out why he thought this was a book-worthy subject. It really baffled me.

He was onto something that I was absolutely unaware of. The problem is so much worse now.

“So” doesn’t bother me much ‘cause I think of it as sort of a sum up of what was previously said by either one of us. The one that drives me nuts is when the interviewee questioned starts out with “I mean. . .blah blah” as if he is correcting something he has just said when he hasn’t said a thing so far. Buying time imo. Just answer the darn question will ya.

(I have a feeling that in both of these instances one has to be there to understand what each of US is saying here.)
