Re: Savage Kingdom. Are you talking about the book about Jamestown? I have that book. The description of what happened to those men at the hands of theVirginia Indians was more along the lines of spread-eagling them between trees and then the tribal women went to work with sharpened mussel shells, skinning them alive and peeling them apart like an onion—muscles and tendons, etc. A horrific torture and death that even the English (masters of torture) couldn’t comprehend. Historians leave this scene out when describing the brutal ways in which John Smith responded. There was a reason he did what he did.
Jamestown? Yup. Between trees, on the ground, there’s more than one circumstance described. I tried to avoid more details. Thot it might gross out some folks. Don’t forget Capn John Smith dropping his powder sack in his own lap and diving into the river to save himself. Lotta stuff in that book that the history class guys leave out. I was fascinated by how well it’s documented.
My library is strictly non-fiction so I look closely at how history-related stuff is put together. Don’t have time for novels, even historical ones because they cause stoopid thinking.
Let’s hope Bidum’s guys don’t find out about it——might try it all on Trump?
