Lahaina Front Street, the second most visited spot in Maui, has always held a special place in the hearts of our family. From our childhood visits in 1990 to our recent trip in June, Front Street has been a constant source of joy and memories.

During our last visit, we felt compelled to record a video capturing the essence of this vibrant street. Little did we know that this would become a poignant reminder of what once was.

Today, on August 9, 2023, devastating news of the billions of dollars in damage to Lahaina and its surrounding communities, particularly Front Street, has left us heartbroken.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone on the island as they face this unimaginable loss. Through sharing this video, we hope to bring a glimmer of happiness and pay tribute to the beauty and spirit of Lahaina Front Street.

God bless everyone in Maui. Mahalo for the memories.

Is this the last most current video driving down front street?

Look at the Google satellite view of the town. Go to street view and look at all that wild grass north of the town that should have been tilled or mowed. Poor land management, typical for democRATS.

That’s definitely where the trouble started.

Thanks for that video. Been to Maui many times and Lahaina was always a favorite spot. The last time we were there was right before the pandemic. We took my daughter and her family to dinner at Fleetwood’s. My grandson who is a foodie had a memorable dinner. I texted him today that the restaurant was totally ruined. He still remembered what a great meal he had, actually, we all did.
So sad. Such a wonderful town.

Y.W. Yes, very sad. Some (many?) did not have time to flee. Some perished in their cars in stopped traffic. The accounts of those who jumped into the ocean and survived are riveting.

Years ago now. Ran fine for a few years until the Maui Sierra Club, inter-island shipping monopoly, and various greenie groups made it too expensive to operate.

"Dry conditions ?"

I have never been there, but dry conditions are on the west side of Oahu. I remember the first time going over there, the first thing I said was that it looked and felt like being back in west Texas (extremely dry).
I can imagine it may be the same there.

Sounds like one I purchased in Miami (keys) back in the late 80s..
Had a semi triangular attachment on top that had a rubber diaphragm inside to make it one-way, so the water didn’t come into the snorkel.

Checked it out.

Not a lot of “there” there, besides perhaps idle speculationand rumor mongering.

News stories have Oprah on Maui, in person, distributing wildfire aid to displaced individuals.

For what it’s worth.

Islands were caught between large LOW pressure area and a large HIGH pressure area (the storm) to the North and South of HI, respectively. The two weather systems created a vortex of very high winds that caused the rapid spread of fires from East to West.

I may have mixed up the low and high areas; not sure.

Anyway... The system on the North has clockwise winds and the one on the South has opposite winds.

The main feature two channels in the uptube

Exhale went up one channel and inhale came in the other.

Co2 is heavier , so when you exhale in a regular snorkel there is still an amount of co2 exhale in the uptube and the next inhale is partially exhale and not 100 % fresh air.

The 2 channel uptube guarantees every inhale is pure fresh air .

Simple but effective /-).

Very interesting.. Honestly, you should ask admin to remove your post so no one else gets the idea.

It does sound a bit better than the one I used back then ;)

The winds here on Oahu were insane, I can actually imagine them the same over there.
