Millions of dollars of research has been done to find red flags that might usefully point out dangerous people. If a suspect buys groceries once a week but suddenly doesn’t that probably will trigger an alert. The suspect might get a phony call on his cell phone. If his voice sounds angry, he’ll be followed up. If he doesn’t sound angry, the alert will probably be cancelled.
