Spray the door knobs, wipe the counters take immune system supplements.
On my sax players advice (who is an MD) - If possible avoid grocery stores with pharmacies. I took that advice about 10 years ago and it’s been good advice. My annual colds tapered off significantly.
“avoid grocery stores with pharmacies”
I can’t figure out why. Any idea why he recommended that?
I noticed that my cold frequency dropped WAY off after I retired to the point I actually went three full years without any respiratory illness at all.
We went on an Alaskan cruise last week up the Inside Passage. Left Seattle, stopped at Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, BC. We drove to Seattle on Friday July 21 morning and the ship departed Friday afternoon. I think 4,000 passengers aboard plus another several hundred crew from 79 countries. There were six in our party.
By Wednesday, four of us were starting to get a sore throat. I hit mine with Betadine (povidone iodine) gargle which I gave to my daughter as well. By Thursday, our daughter had lost her voice.
We docked back at Seattle Friday morning and by Saturday I was feeling poorly, but it felt like a cold. Then my sense of smell went kaput (as did my wife’s) and I felt worse. I noticed I couldn’t smell the fresh ground coffee on Sunday (nor could my wife). I took a COVID test late Monday and it was positive; my wife’s two tests were negative. I went to Urgent Care on Tuesday, took another test and it confirmed positive. I got a prescription for Paxlovid. Today I feel almost 100% fine. Never once had a fever.
The past couple years, my wife took only Vitamin D while I took the full prophylaxis protocol from the beginning - C, D, quercetin, zinc, NAC, aspirin, nigella sativa (blacked oil), and melatonin.
My wife and I are twice vaxed and once boosted. Our daughter and her husband (mid 30s) never got the vax nor took any supplements. Neither of them took a COVID test for this bout. My wife and I are early 70s. Everybody is healthy and active.
Today we are all well. There are different approaches with the four of us, but the outcome was the same for everybody. Go figure. Maybe being in our 70s, the outcome would have been a lot worse for my wife and I without the vax and single booster. Who knows.
