Maybe not on the vax. By now, we have all been fully exposed to Covid so we have built up the natural antibodies. It’s basically a cold now.
The reason why Covid was so dangerous initially is that it was not a human disease so we had no natural antibodies to fight it. It was also weaponized to spread rapidly.

That makes good sense. It seems like it is increasingly difficult to find a supermarket without a pharmacy. Our local Albertson’s and Safeway (same company) both have pharmacies as does our Walmart. We have a very good local supermarket that does not.

Anecdotally…we have shopped at all three throughout the pandemic and didn’t get sick. It took getting on a cruise ship to get us sick.

“It took getting on a cruise ship to get us sick.”

I had a career at sea, as a electrical engineer. And I used to do inspections work for different companies while ships were in port. I refuse to take a cruise ship vacation, and I wouldn’t work aboard one either. For many other reasons besides the health risk.

Sounds like a great career!

I’ve never had the desire to go on a cruise, but our daughter and husband asked us to go, so I figured it would be a good family experience. The experience pretty much confirmed what I thought about big cruise ships before. Three or four cruise ships, each with 2,000 - 4,000 passengers, all dock simultaneously in small towns disgorging 10,000 people into a town of 1,200. Ugh. Lots of hours spent getting on and off, waiting in lines, getting tour busses, passing security checks, etc. You get eight to ten hours of shore time, then back on the ship.

The entertainment was not very good and aimed at young folks (our kids loved it). It was like a giant amusement park with bumper cars, climbing walls, water park features, surf rides, etc. Not my cup of tea.

Royal Caribbean does an excellent job hiring extremely nice and attentive staff. We had the same dining table each day and the head and assistant waiters were assigned to us the whole time; they knew the names of the six of us in our party by the second day. The crew was from 79 different countries. We never had to wait for meals and the food quality was very good.

I must say that I really enjoyed the two shore events we planned, an 18-person canoe voyage across Lake Mendenhall in Juneau and riding the Skagway White Pass & Yukon Route railroad. But we could have flown to those towns and done our own sightseeing over a period of a few days.

That’s probably my first and last cruise, although my wife has her eyes on a Baltic cruise on Oceania.

I'd be more far, far more worried about this, from Upstate NY...

Buffalo City School District hosts "walk in" interviews to address bus aide shortage

Get a load of this bit...

...Background check permitting, they were hired right away...

Okaaaaay...
