Former President Donald Trump has extended his lead by nine points over Ron DeSantis in national primary polling data, giving him a 42-point advantage despite being charged in a criminal case for the third time last week.
The figures, in a polling memo for his campaign, show that he heads the Republican field with 55 percent support, while DeSantis has dropped to 13 percent, down five points since June.
TtT unleashed in New Hampshire:
Trump stuck largely to his prepared speech for the first half an hour or so before going off piste, running his rule over the field of Republican candidates including ‘Ron DeSanctimonius.
‘He’s rapidly being caught by Ramaswamy, who’s good.
‘Christie, he’s eating right now. He can’t be bothered.
Someone in the crowd shouted out, ‘Fat pig,’ allowing Trump to use one of his favorite rhetorical techniques: The repetitive anti-insult insult.
‘Sir, please do not call him a fat pig,’ said Trump. ‘That’s very disrespectful.
‘Don’t call him ... See I’m I’m trying to be nice.
‘Don’t call him a fat pig. You can’t do that.’
