The movie Harrrison Bergeron, made in 1995, based on Kurt Vonnegut's short story of the same name. Enjoy!

Seems to be a good adaptation, a bit long-but good to watch for a Thusday evening.

We read that story in my sophomore year of high school. Have to wonder if it would be forbidden by teachers today. Too much a moral about being independent and free for kids, they'll think.

I remember this adaptation. If I remember correctly the President of the United States is chosen at random from everyone in the country. Sounds like a hella good system...

“The year was 2081 and everyone was finally equal”

2081 isn’t far away, and we’re heading that way at breakneck speed. Vonnegut was prophetic. One of my favorite short story. Here’s the text.

The movie is okay. It’s entertaining and it sort of makes the point of the original story. But in order to make it into a full length movie I think they have taken too many liberties with the story, especially the ending. Folks owe it to themselves to read this great short story. A movie just can’t do it justice.
