McCarthy served on Bougainville Island fighting the Japanese. He flew at least 12 missions as a photographer and a tailgunner on a dive bomber—probably a Douglas Dauntless, the plane that won the Battle of Midway.
Yes I believe he had (has?) records for the most Heavy MG rounds extended on a mission. He once jokingly apologized to Dole Pineapple Company in a fundraising event (or some such) for shooting up their facilities to a great extent. It was on one of those islands the Japanese had seized.😂
Oh on his death, it was very suspicious. He was a bull of a man in strength and only 48 when he died of liver failure. The lame stream media and academics have portrayed him as a drunk. However his close friends and associates said he was only a moderate drinker. Some suspect the KGB poisoned him with a drug that caused liver damage (CCl4).
My great uncle was a life long alcoholic and he lived to about 80. He made cat noises and took steps about 4 inches long in his last year or two. It was a very slow progression on him ( I think he developed Wernicke–Korsakoff syndrome).
Please read and share this if you find Joe McCarthy amazing like me:

I read his true mission count was higher. He would sub for his friends when they were to stressed out by combat then turn their names in for the credit.
He was that kind of a man—regardless of 50 years of endless smearing by academia, leftists and media would have you believe.
