This is an interesting association. It could be that mothers have an issue that encourages wanting the epidural, and that same issue could encourage their children to have autism-type issues, but such are associations.

I would question the correlation and would like to see a counter study on the prevalence of Autism in non-epidural births.
My first one was delivered without any pain medication. No issues during pregnancy.
My second was delivered by c-section after a premature abruptly.
My third was also delivered by c-section, but advanced sonograms showed he had a 2-vessel umbilical cord (typically an indication of severe genetic abnormalities). He has Asbergers.
Unless they tested the autistic children for other possible genetic issues, they are missing a huge chunk of relevant data that could negate the underlying premise of epidurals possibly leading to an increase in Autism.
