I noticed that game when I first visited her Youke threads. That little game's a "tell" for someone who thinks they're smarter, and therefore superior, to everyone else.

I have found it to be a staple move of every sociopath I've ever dealt with. And I've had to deal with more than a few of them. What I've observed about the ones I've known is that they have average, or slightly above average, intelligence - there is nothing brilliant or remarkable about them except for their ability to tell ridiculous tales and to do so convincingly. Like for everything else in humanity there are almost certainly exceptions to this but I've personally never dealt with one who didn't "fit the mold."

All of them employ gaslighting when they get caught lying or with their hands in the cookie jar. From my perch they are "stick bugs," small individuals who use the same clever (to them) trick or two to deny reality and to spread confusion and ill will.

Through the years I've had people ask me what the best way to deal with such people is. I tell them, "run like hell," but if you can't and must deal with one use hand signals as you would to train a dog so as to set hard limits with them. It usually allows you to keep them at a safe distance.

I’ve dealt with a few as well and they’ve all seemed to fit the mold. The way they lie repeatedly, even when the lies are exposed for all to see is mind-boggling. I think that’s why so many go on to work in politics.

Yes, and it’s all about control with them. They have a need to control everyone and everything around them. They’ll do anything for that control, using manipulative tactics to gain and maintain control of others. And they become extremely angry and vicious when they come up against those they can’t manipulate. They double down on the gaslighting and lies in desperation.

I’m filled with pity and contempt any time I run across one of those people.
