As I am first on your list of those addressed, I shall take personal offense at your tone.
Playing the "in case you are" stratagem in any debate is pretence to avoid an outright statement with wiggle words, and yet suggest I am "a pro Putin American citizen."
Is that your suggestion? Your statement? If so ....
...expletives deleted.
If not, clarify your statement. Make you accusation outright, or don't.
Thank you for asking me to clarify my previous statement: “In case you actually are a pro Putin American citizen, it is important to realize that while this war has caused a degree of inflation here, and added to supply chain problems, people in Europe and elsewhere have much higher inflation rates and fuel costs than we do. We also have good employment rates. After all consider this—everyone is trying to get INTO the US, while everyone is trying to GET OUT of Russia.”
I realize there are many true Americans who may be very distress about the economic conditions that are effecting them worse in the past several years. Many do not seem to understand that first of all Covid had a very serious effect on delivery of goods and services to the US, especially from China and Asia. Once people began receiving extra payments for Covid problems both as individuals and as businesses, there was too much money looking for too few products, so what was there got sold for more money. More recently with unemployment staying under 4% and more people being paid higher wages because of lack of personnel, this inflation trend has continued. However, the US inflation situation is well below what inflation is in Europe, and far less than in many non-European countries.
For those who wish to get angry about higher gas prices, it is NOT caused by the lack of oil these days. It is caused by the fact that when the temperature is above 95 degrees, which it has been a lot lately, refineries have serious problems producing and have to reduce output. Many are in Texas where it is especially hot.
So to anyone who in frustration over current local economic conditions thinks things are better for Russians, study just how cruel the Russian attacks and occupation of Ukraine have been. Also consider how much Putin has hurt his own people. If after doing so you still think Russia/Putin is better than Ukraine and deserves praise, then I pray for your sanity and civility.
Incidentally, since Putin has decided to blow up the grain business for the world, be glad that American farmers are able to provide for some of the slack and make a bit more money as well. There are winners and losers from economics. For the moment poor countries are the losers, Putin has lost the respect and friendship of many, and American farmers seem to be the winners.
