Taylor Swift, an apparent strong believer in Trickle-down economics, is reportedly giving six-figure bonuses to all of the truckers carrying her equipment around the country for her Eras Tour. TMZ reports that each trucker was given a $100,000 bonus check after her show last Saturday in Santa Clara, California.
Around 50 truckers received the bonus, which works out to about $5 million in money from Swift. That may sound like a lot – and it is – but please keep this in mind: TMZ says the nationwide tour has made over $1 billion in sales. It could end up being the highest-grossing tour of all time.
The checks are reportedly “end of tour” bonuses, according to TMZ. The U.S. leg of The Eras Tour officially comes to a close August 9 after six shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. After that, Swift and her crew will head down to Mexico.
Ever the giver, Swift has also reportedly given out bonuses to band members, dancers, lighting and sound technicians, caterers and others. However, we don’t know just how much they were given.
We’ve previously reported that those 50-ish trucks carry just about everything for the concerts, including all the costumes, color-coded microphones, the mossy house, illuminated bikes, musical equipment, massive LED screens and illuminated staging. Oh, and don’t forget all the speakers, lights and just about everything you’d need to put on an over three-hour-long concert. Dozens of these trucks show up over a week before the shows are actually set to begin, and it makes sense. Taylor isn’t exactly packing light.
Good for her!
My son’s best friend bought two tickets to the Santa Clara show. He finally sold them last week for a $5,000 profit!
Yep. good for her. Always remember the people supporting you.
If one of the truckers reported this story, good for Taylor Swift!
But if her publicist reported this story, my opinion might change.
Yeah, I’m that cynical.
Very nice of her. But she’s still the Queen of Autotune.
“He finally sold them last week for a $5,000 profit!”
Dang and then some!!!!
Investment banker in the making???
You can never be too cynical
How thoroughly extirpated our institutions have become of conservatism can be seen from the simple fact that even a completely banal, anodyne musical pop act is unapologetically left-wing progressive in its political pronouncements. Entertainment, in all its forms, across the spectrum, has been purged of conservatism.
Jackson Browne talked about them, Taylor did something about them!
“given a $100,000 bonus check after her show last Saturday in Santa Clara, California”
How much is ChiCom Cali taking out of that Bonus check paid in California?
I bet more than half-
After subtracting hotel, meals, bar tab and incidentals, each trucker got $14.95.
She treats her crew well. This probably says a lot about her character although admittedly I don’t know that much about her. Right on.
Taylor Swift tried to stay out of politics and then she was singled out and called a Nazi-sympathizer for not speaking out. "Silence is violence" they told her. She was particularly criticized for not formally endorsing Hillary in 2016. By the midterms of 2018, she had bent the knee and embraced every leftist platform.
Funny though, Swift didn't get all the liberal talking points and in April 2020, she called the Soros family "shamelessly greedy" after her catalogue sold. Someone forgot to tell her that George Soros is a liberal icon and above criticism.
“ TMZ says the nationwide tour has made over $1 billion in sales.”
In true journalistic fashion of the day…the writer confuses “gross” with “net.”
I think giving these guys a $100k bonus is great. I am sure TS isn’t going to miss the money, but these days people are so jealous of success there are people who will dump on this “pittance.” I mean, it’s not like the truckers were working for tips—this bonus was on top of what were probably decent Union wages.
That’s really swell. Really. Props to her. My admiration for her just went up a few points.
5.3/16 out of a hundred is getting there.
The truckers undoubtedly had a very good contract, and Swift gave them a bonus on top of that. And apparently, lots of others on her tour received bonuses as well.
I haven't looked at the numbers yet but her last sold-out tour of NFL stadiums, in support of "Reputation", employed over 300 people on the payroll. And this tour is even bigger.
Ping!
I think TS treats her people well. She puts on a quality product. She cares about her customers.
She sounds like a good “boss.”
But, the haters gonna hate!
