It is disappointing, but only to be expected.

People, especially city-dwellers, that work in mostly marginal fields such as entertainment, tend to be insanely leftist - deep down they are waiting for the shoe to drop and find them destitute like many others they’ve seen in the industry.

Wildly successful ones, such as Gaffigan, keep this same mentality as they feel they’re looking out for their friends who aren’t as successful. It’s delusion that comes from living on the edge too long, with fellow travelers.
