“Yes, and I got a feeling the gay guy was not stabbed for just striking a pose.”
There are places and times when you can get beaten or killed for doing anything. I get the impression that the “I’m gay, so I’m untouchable” idea is in this victim’s head. You don’t stand in front of a bull and wave a red flag and think, “Hey, it’s my right to stand anywhere I want and wave a red flag.” That would be stupid. This guy wasn’t killed for being gay. He was killed for being stupid.
Discussing the dangers of Detroit with my Detroit based coworkers one of them said, “Yeah, there are places and times at those places where you’d be stupid to go. We know those places and times and we don’t go there. If we do go there, we don’t do it after dark. That’s just life in the big city.” Same thing here. Being gay does not give you a pass on the societal rules everyone else is obeying.
Having said all that, a friend once said, “Some people improve the world with their presence and others with their absence.”
It could have been, but most likely it was not just seeing some queer prance around that set the muzzie off.
