A bipartisan group of lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee say a high-profile hearing on UFOs is just the start of their push for answers.
And they are threatening to use heavier handed tactics if the Pentagon and intelligence agencies stand in their way.
Reps. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) and Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) want more information on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) — commonly referred to as UFOs — beginning with new laws, a classified hearing and the possible creation of a select committee.
The lawmakers said they are willing to use subpoena power if needed to get the answers they’re seeking from the federal government.
“If there’s not a cover up, the government and the Pentagon are sure spending a lot of resources to stop us from studying it,” Burchett told The Hill.
[...]
To get the information from Grusch — who said he was unable to discuss specifics on what he told the Pentagon’s watchdog arm — lawmakers want to sit down with the former official in a sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) to get additional information from him.
The group has been blocked, however, by officials that have informed them that Grusch doesn’t currently have security clearance to discuss the issues in a SCIF, according to Burchett.
[...]
Burchett also made an attempt to put an amendment into a Federal Aviation Administration bill to improve air travel, passed July 20, that would have required UAP sightings be reported to Congress. The initiative was blocked, which Luna said was an indication that “we clearly have a battle ahead of us.”
Another avenue for lawmakers should they not receive access to a SCIF would be invoking the Holman rule.
During Wednesday’s hearing Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) vowed to do just that, saying that he would “personally volunteer to initiate the Holman rule against any personnel, or any program, or any agency that denies access to Congress.”
The Holman rule is a House power through which they can strip the salary of a specific government position, fire civil servants or cut a particular program.

It mighty be substantial. Hit men are usually well paid.
“Suppose they prove there are et spacecraft and martian bodies in the freezer at Roswell ?
Then what ?”
How many people were murdered to keep the secrets—and who authorized the murders?
How did the disinformation campaign work—exactly?
What are the new technologies that hopefully can improve lives for everyone?
Is there a secret space program and how does that work?
etc etc etc
I am just scratching the surface—the implications are limitless.
What's with the current buzz word "distraction"? Is the new current Freeper hip word?
Nothing is being "distracted", all the news fit for news is being reported. Hunter especially........Sheesh!
It seems that Dr. Kirkpatrick is not well-liked at all by anyone except perhaps his bosses at the Pentagon.
You have made two very important points. Those who hide these secrets act like they are citizens of a different Nation. In that, they are traitors to be operating outside of Congressional oversight. Congress could just cut off funding to the Pentagon and all of the alphabet agencies and see what scurries out of the woodwork.
“Suppose they prove there are et spacecraft and martian bodies in the freezer at Roswell ?
Then what ?”
I’ll respectfully answer that. If this can be brought to light as true, then they cannot hide that they are hiding and hording extremely advanced technology that can be a game changer for humanity. Such as Scalar energy technology that could supply the world including 3rd world countries with nearly free unlimited electricity. Also engineering and physics that would revolutionize and advance engineering and physics as we know it.
Or debunking it for sure would give us reason to stop dumping taxpayers dollars into these black budget projects for no reason. Either way... We need to know for sure without question.
Come on, man. You know the... thing. End of quote. Sniff. Sniff.
“That news could potentially open a completely new era in human civilization.”
That’s great.
How does it help with America’s industrial decline ? Inflation and cost of living problems ? Massive trade and budget deficits ? An uncontrolled border ? A dysfunctional and decayed US military ? A corrupt and biased DOJ and FBI ? Massive voter fraud and crooked elections ? Total urban lawlessness, decay and degeneracy ?
Those are the issues that Members of Congress in a functional Republic would be concentrating on .
I can imagine how advanced technology could be used to work through your ditty list. I am sorry you don’t have that sort of imagination, but that isn’t my problem.
“...extremely advanced technology that can be a game changer for humanity. Such as Scalar energy technology that could supply the world...”
That’s great. We will comb our hair with ray guns. Meanwhile...

Seems like politicians will have a choice: tug on that string or kick the can down the road and be lifetime politicians. No different than the JFK coverup.
How old are you?
How does martian bodies in the freezer at Roswell clean up DOJ corruption, or stolen elections ?
You are basically saying, "Don't bother the Pentagon about secrets they are hiding from the American people...look over here at all our other problems, like inflation, cost of living problems, and deficits.
If the Deep State is identified, which will happen with disclosure, virtually all of the items you listed can probably be brought under control quickly. It is the Deep State that is waging that war on US citizens in the first place.
“...look over here at all our other problems, like inflation, cost of living problems, and deficits.”
Yes !
Well, he’s young enough to have hair to comb.
So, you are on the Pentagon payroll.
The testimony was very specific as to who the bad guys are.
In the government they are senior career employees with security clearances in a variety of agencies who formed a “secret team” over the decades. Their power was not affected by their political bosses who turned over administration to administration.
In the private sector they are retired senior career government employees who “cashed in” by joining a number of military (and related) contractors.
I have had lengthy posts here over the year explaining the difference between career federal employees and political appointees.
The political appointees are the ones who hog the mass media time but the real decision-making authority is kept by the career employees.
This is because a boss cannot give orders on a subject when they don’t know what is happening—they are out of the loop.
Example—If there is a secret underground base with alien craft etal it can be operated by a military contractor. Their funding can be controlled by senior career Pentagon acquisition officials. Together they can make up a “cover story” to make the “secret project” seem critical to national defense with a “fake” purpose. The political bosses would have no “need to know” the details.
The Wilson/Davis memo showed how this worked when Admiral Wilson tried to break through the secrecy:

Identification of the Deep State will come with disclosure. That will clean up the DOJ/Pentagon/NSA/CIA problems which prevent solving every one of your issues.
