Why has Tafari Campbell become an unperson since his death?
Barack Obama was “heartbroken” over the drowning of his chef Tafari Campbell, but has said nary a word about him since he drowned on Sunday. Sasha and Malia Obama flew off to California on Tuesday and Michelle, appropriately dressed in black, played tennis on Wednesday “but only for an hour.”
Surely the Obamas would want a fine funeral for their employee of many years. But apparently, the issue is closed. The post-mortem was finished on Monday and the toxicology reports will take several weeks. So where is Tafari now?
There has been no obituary for Tafari in any paper, no notification of a funeral -- not even in his hometown paper of Dumfries, VA. Perhaps it is too soon for him to be listed on Legacy.com, but others who died after he did are listed, and in Edgartown, MA there is nothing in the Vineyard Gazette, the local newspaper. It claims to list obituaries for anyone who lives on the island or vacations there regularly. Apparently, hired help doesn’t count, even one who returns year after year.
Edgartown, MA police still have not identified the 911 caller, but one story revealed that it was a female. Allegedly, Tafari was paddle boarding with another person, who tried unsuccessfully to help him when he fell off his board. The unidentified person swam to shore where yet another person called for help.
It is not unreasonable to think that one of the Obama girls was the unnamed person also out on the water. Malia looked distressed as she was leaving the island. She could have been the one who tried to help and Sasha could have made the call. If not one of the Obama girls, why was the caller unidentified?

My question, why the coverup? The guy was their chef, he had every reason to be on the island and at the house. If he was out on the water with the girls, what’s the big deal there? If he and Barry were paddle boarding who cares? Why all the secrecy? Accidents happen. It’s not like he was in the front seat of an Oldsmobile being driven by a drunk Kennedy.
Many photos like that in D.C. more D’s than R’s.
I expect the pace to puck up as some cases near court date.
All you have to do is look at the video of him trying to swim laps in the pool to see that he was at best a marginal swimmer - even in a pool, and wearing flippers. Also appears to be a "natural sinker" - which is consistent with his body type.
Put a very poor swimmer, with negative buoyancy, in open water, at night, without a PFD. If he tips off a paddleboard unexpectedly, chances are good he panics and drowns.
I am an excellent swimmer, but I would NEVER go on any kind of watercraft without a PFD.
With all that said, I think there is a coverup in progress, but it has less to do with the victim than who was present, who made the call, etc. And the reflexive response of the Obamas to everything is coverup.

If he couldn’t swim it is hard to believe that he’d go out on the water without a life jacket. It’s hard to believe he couldn’t just grab the board.

The Obamas were at their home on the island, so the SS would have been as well. There would have been no need for the chef to be on site if they weren't. They've finally admitted they were there at the time of the drowning. The fact that the identify of the person that sat on a paddle board and watched the guy drown, is being kept top secret, leads me to believe it was an Obama or Robinson family member. Why else would their identity be off-limits?
Reminds me of Barry going golfing shortly after it was announced that American journalist James Foley had been beheaded.

. Regarding the pond, he should have been able to swim enough to go maybe 20 to 30 feet til his feet hit land.
Hell He could bounce up , grab air, get his bearing. And maybe 5 to 7 strokes away was shallow enuf for him to stand. The whole thing. STINKS.
All of this with flippers on.
I went back and looked at a video of my daughter and I doing the preparatory 400-yard swim for the BSA Lifeguard course. Both of us vary our strokes considerably, but with any speed stroke most of the upper body is clear of the water during forward motion.
With his heavily muscled build he's a natural sinker to boot. He can't bounce up and grab air because he can't even keep his upper body on top of the water when he's swimming.
I think you underestimate the panic effect of a sudden spill into the water on a very, very marginal swimmer who's buoyancy-negative and used to swimming with flippers on.
There used to be a joke going around about the 'pampered Dunwoody housewife' - which is the Atlanta version of [pick the most expensive close-in suburb] woman with too much money and no taste --

We were in the carpool line in a private school adjoining Dunwoody when a tall, slim, tanned blonde flitted across the parking lot in a black tennis dress. Of course all the kids shouted, "Mama! Mama! Is she in mourning?" And the windows were down. Of course.

I surmise the chef shared some drug with one or both of the girls—who understandably might be a bit rebellious after years in the WH with those two.
Those two, however, were well acquainted with drugs, which gave the green light to the kids to do what dad did. Chef may have scored the drug, but apparently couldn’t handle it.
I can’t imagine Obamas having the guy offed intentionally...even if he intended to expose all their dirty underwear. Very unbecoming of an X-Prez.
