Actually it does remind me a lot of Japan attacking the USA, Russia attacking Ukraine. Both baseless attempts of small dick syndrome for no real expectation of a good outcome.
This also reminds me of WW1, no real reason, just to fight and bully neighbors. Russia is so insanely stupid with this, it’s painful to me.
No. Russia has sound strategic reasons for being paranoid having a hostile alliance on its 1991 Ukraine border.
A terrain analysis shows why both ukraine and Russia are so vulnerable to attack on that border, and also why so much of the Russia/German battles in WW2 were in the locations where they were.
