As the surgically created “vagina” has none of the self cleaning abilities of a biological vagina the patient has to clean it out three to four times a day.
In the best cases this all creates a level of pain the patient can live with. As in this case severe pain can ensue. In other cases the intestine used in the creation of the “vagina” can come into contact with healthy intestine and form a fistula which is itself painful and can lead to the patient having feces coming out front and back. In that case surgery and wearing an ostomy bag are part of the long term future.
