I went, “What??? “ My Boo was such a snuggle bug and had never bitten ANYBODY. Maybe an accidental scratch if he lost his balance (he had a concussion after being hit by a car that left him permanently off-balance), but never BITING. The previous vet and techs all adored him. When they brought him out in the carrier, I could tell they had done something to traumatize him. He was seriously pissed off.
Never took him to that vet again.
I’m so sorry. A vet I used to go to, years ago, would always do anal glands on cats and dogs. If he could have done them on parakeets, he probably would have. I finally figured out it was a way for him to make an extra $12. My cat was ill, he did her anal glands (why???) and then the vet tech stuck a needle in her back leg to do fluids (again, why??) and my cat turned and bit her twice. The tech got angry at me, my cat got a big red dot on her chart and I thought.. “Idiots.” Never went back.
My cat breeder has seen a tech paralyze a cat when they’ve lifted a tail wrong. All work on my animals is done with me standing there. There are no exceptions to my rule, unless it’s surgery. If you can’t work on my animal while I’m calmly standing there, I will take my pet to another vet.
I’m sorry about your cat.
