Exactly one more thing that makes no sense. They cant even blame it on wave action or current since there were no waves and very little current, .6 of a foot every 6 hours which is negligible.

Is the depth of this water uniform, or are there low spots? What’s the topography of the bottom? I mean, it could average 4 or 5 feet, but have spots that are considerably deeper.
Just throwing that out for consideration.
