We've been living on the boat for over 30 years. It's just normal for us. We do house-sit from time to time though, especially for people with animals. This week we're taking care of the Harbor Master's house and dog. Next week we are horse and house sitting for a commercial fishing couple who will be out hunting crab for a month.
I think our long-distance cruising days are about over. I'm pushing 75 now. We are looking for a house, on the grid, here on Mitkof Island but there are none for sale at this time. Plenty of off-grid properties both here on Mitkof and across the Wrangell Narrows on Kupreanof island. If we wanted to go off the grid however, We would take the easy route and just sail away.
No. It's not for everyone. We have seen quite a few couples try it and give it up after a short time even in the tropics. But we, quite frankly, LOVE this life. The Alaska playlist on our YT channel should make it very clear why.
