I still remember that. My unit was out on maneuvers at the Graf, GE. One guy did a heavy accented skit of Vito Corleone commenting on her tearing up the Pope JPII’s photo. “I swear upon the graves of my grandchildren such a heinous act by this woman will bear a horrible toll for her sacrilege and desecration....” Can’t say the guy’s skit was that wrong.
Joe Pesci hosted SNL the following week, and held up a picture of the Pope and said, “She’s lucky she wasn’t hosting my show, I’d give her such a smack!”
