Kids seem like a bum deal. You learn that you can love someone so unconditionally and looking inward you see that this paternal love is very similar to the love of the Holy Spirit, and why the Church Fathers and apostles kept harping of the paternal bond between Creator and created, now made manifest in your own little family, and how can you love anything more than your children? Then, they grow up, and up, and up, faster than you can even muse on these thoughts, and what are you supposed to do afterwards!

I share your concern, and some of your experience. But . . . how about grandkids, if one is so fortunate to have them?
