Dear Boy is a great song, would have been right at home on a Beatles record.
And I do think for this album Linda’s backing vocals worked. I know folks made fun of her singing, especially live, but it did the job here.
The layered harmonies are nice.
There is something quite...satisfying about that song, including the last wave of vocalizations “Ba-ba-ba-...Ba-ba-ba” at a raised key, ending in one loud piano chord, ending the movement like an exclamation point.
