I was thinking the same. Great leaps in knowledge usually come from university research labs, and not from the government. So I’m guessing an astrophysicist would just love to publish a paper proving the existence of alien visitation. Then it’s Nobel Prize time.
That no paper has been published says something, to me at least.
There a definitely instances where technolog breakthroughs in the private sector have been removed from the marketplace and shelved by much larger companies.
If you don't think the government hasn't done that as well, you are kidding yourself. Except the government has the ability and authority to control it under the umbrella of "National Security".
