I’m laughing at your statement as it’s so true. A good friend had business in Denver this past weekend and was, “shocked to find the whole city smelled like skunk weed”.
Several years ago, I bought some name brand packaged veg seeds for the garden at Home Depot. Not that I partake, but I swear those plants were a weed of a special variety. I asked on the FR garden thread and pulled them up pronto.

The same is true in San Francisco. I can’t take a 10 minute walk anywhere in town without being confronted with the cannabis stench.
As to the articles suggestions of a cigarette comeback, I’ve seen no evidence whatsoever of that in California. The kids and young adults may be into nicotine vapes, but not cigs. The author writes from England, though, and the situation may be different there.
