The mutiny of Prigozhin was just the beginning: it gave rise to many dissatisfied military commanders in the Russian ‘joint’ army. High-ranking officers and commanders often get dismissed or even arrested for dissatisfaction with Gersaimov and Shoigu – Russia’s masterminds of the war against Ukraine. Soldiers of the Russian army, non-Russian military formations, Kadyrov’s Chechens, numerous mercenary groups: these are all in a boiling cauldron that can explode any time, anywhere.

Olena Hramova reports from the front lines of the Donetsk region, where Russians still attempt to advance with different types of military units. Most often, they use the tactic of a ‘meat assault’ when many regiments of infantry advance in multiple directions with the hope that some of them will make it.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda considers it wrong to ease sanctions against Russia in exchange for an agreement on the safe export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea.
SOURCE: European Pravda, citing Nauseda in an interview with Klaipeda; LRT

QUOTE: “We believe that it is extremely unfair to ease sanctions against dictators.”

DETAILS: “This is the position of all authorities, regardless of the level of discussion”, he added.
The Lithuanian president stressed that sanctions should not be eased against either Russia or Belarus.
He also added Lithuania believes that sanctions against Belarus should be as tough as those against Russia.

BACKGROUND: On 17 July, Russia announced the suspension of the grain deal and threatened “risks” to the parties that decide to continue the initiative without Russia’s participation.

After that, President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stated that he believes in the possibility of continuing the Black Sea grain initiative after his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Following the failure of the Grain Deal, Russia has systematically attacked Odesa Oblast, targeting, among other things, port infrastructure for grain exports and storage facilities.
