During 2003-2007, from March to October, I delivered bulk sand to golf courses in an approximate 200 mile radius from Muscatine, IA. I hauled sand used for for bunkers, greens, and tees.
Many times I arrived early, when it was barely light enough for the course crew to work. You could smell what they were doing if you noticed the odor of herbicides or insecticides being applied. They use a LOT. They also use a lot of fertilizer.
Never golfed in my life, but I tell those that do: Wash your hands after handling your golf balls, clubs, and shoes. Don’t touch your face either.
Besides that, golf has got to be the vainest sport there is. Glad I was never interested in playing it.
