Companies that have a mass market see the fate of Disney and Anheuser Busch and are running scared. As an example, Lowe's recently rehired an employee who tried to stop store theft, and who was fired for her attempt. The firing hit the alternative media and even Fox, and the executives were afraid of mass consumer retaliation. Some businesses are not particularly affected if their market is heavily liberal: Ben and Jerry's or Starbucks, as examples. However, if your market is skewed toward traditional families or white males, you are now vulnerable. Rush Limbaugh and William Buckley are not around to “curate” conservatives, and Fox has been dethroned.
