Earth historical temperature, ice ages, warm periods, glacial periods and interglacial warm periods: We are in an interglacial warming period in an ice age period.
The first graph shows the long-term average global temperature view of warm periods and ice ages:

Note that Ice ages vary in length, but 50 million years is pretty typical. Warm periods last much longer than ice ages.
The second graph shows glacial and interglacial warm period temperature variations for several cycles during the last 450,000 years. Our current Ice Age started about 10 million years ago, depending on exactly where you want to specify the start temperature from graph 1. Note that the temperature scale on graph 2 is the average temperature at the Antarctica glacier bore site, not the same as the average global temperature from graph 1):

The temperature for the current interglacial warm period from ice core data in Greenland is shown in graph 3. Note that the temperature always fluctuates and that the current temperature is not out of the normal range of fluctuations:

In graph 3 above, the text on the left bottom says “End of the last Ice Age”. The correct terminology should say “End of the last Glacial Period”.
Thanks for all the chartage. It would appear to some folks that ice ages are more the norm than current WEATHER. Pretty obvious where this is headed. And pretty obvious that not many of these assclowns have ever tried to work in extreme cold. It WILL kill you quicker than a hot day.
Science? Fuggediboutit!
This is the biggest whole in the theory: to prove the warming is anthropogenic, they would have to prove that current warming is not naturally caused. To do that they would have to understand and be able to simulate the previous warming reliably. They cannot.
So they are asking us to pay trillions in known costs to avoid a very unlikely but high-impact event, which is a typical scam that preys upon the human bias to exaggerate improbable but high-impact events.
