I still believe — provisionally — that we are inflicting most of this madness on ourselves. The hard left started burrowing into mainstream institutions long ago. It has by now captured many of them. And the hard left has always despised America, all religions but especially Christianity, and the foundational principles of a free society. Even the most insane ideas now being imposed by leftist commissars in their various fields all germinated for years in American universities.
That said, I also think it is likely that all of America’s enemies abroad recognize our weak spot and pour resources into destabilization. One of the reasons the left is so successful is its ability to flood the zone. It is constantly on attack, in every sector, and the target shifts the moment an inch is gained. Somehow resources never seem to be a limitation. The whole deconstruction and destabilization phalanx moves as a monolith, pivots in unison, very rarely shows even the slightest internal division on even the crazies issues, and seems to have effortless and endless money to throw at the target of the moment.
It goes way beyond George Soros and crackpot academics. And it probably goes way beyond China and the God King Emperor Xi. Although the God King Emperor Xi probably intends to topple America without firing a shot.
