Well, I will throw this out: As I study deeper and deeper into US history, I’m finding more and more one errs if they think the US was even close to Christlike in their roll in world events.
I’m 69 and for me, it all started with the broadening of my understanding of our role in Vietnam.
And I now live by this: Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but step two is understanding that the US is not a Norman Rockwell painting. i.e. we have LOTS of blood on our hands.
I suspect Oppenheimer understood that. It’s not to say other bad players were not just as bad as they were made out to be. Rather, the US was nowhere close to as cood as our propaganda made us out to be.
