You are claiming our invasions were legal because we did not annex territory in Kosovo, Libya and Syria. The law of war makes no distinction as to whether or not you annex what you invade, only THAT you invaded.
Russia on the other hand had a legal de jure UN right to use military force to protect people experiencing well documented ethnic cleansing.

Again I say, Germans and Brits lose all sense of reason when dealing with Russia. And your good old days of Yeltsin were basically a nightmare for Russians who were impoverished by mafiosi who were empowered by western financiers.

The war in illegal invasion by Russia of Ukraine has been raging for over five hundred days, with no end in sight.

When are we going to start bombing Turkey for invading Syria?

--- "When are we going to start bombing Turkey for invading Syria?"

That's wholly unfair of you to ask! Then we'd have to bomb ourselves too! < sarc > Besides, the clever chap had already carved out his delineation, “in any of those conflicts.”

Just so you know, the person to whom you are posting to is not part of “we” as in US Veterans like we are.

Just another foreign FR poster trying to get the US to be Europe’s bitch.

To myself: They're, not their. Because HOMONYM alerts will be called for a typo, unless I impale myself first before the grammarians and lexicographers and polyglots hover in attack formation!

Nothing says freedom like nazi symbols and kidnapping people off the streets to fight in a war financed by the west.

Sorry, but none of those are "obvious" to me.

1. I don't accept this idea of Russia as our "chief geopolitical/military adversary" at all -- at least not anymore. And a reasonable American should seriously consider whether they ever really were. For heaven's sake -- the two nations jointly developed a space station and operated it collaboratively for decades!

2. No other nation on Earth has as many nuclear-tipped missiles pointed at America's heartland. That, alone, should suffice to prove that Russia is America's sworn enemy. First of all, I have no idea how many nuclear-tipped missiles are pointed at America's heartland. Do you? And based on what I know now, I consider it perfectly reasonable for any foreign country to do whatever is necessary to protect itself from predation by the United States.

3. I've heard all of this for decades. Nobody has every convinced me that allowing Ukraine to join NATO -- or even have minimal trade relations with the U.S. -- is even a good idea, let alone a matter of national importance. Any illusions I had about Ukraine went out the window when I watched the President of the United States face impeachment because he dared to expose the corruption of Ukraine's government and its dealings with the similarly corrupt bag of @ssholes who feed at the taxpayer's trough right here in the U.S.

4. Anything that weakens Russia, degrades its military, embarrasses it, or isolates it on the world stage is to America's benefit. Really? That's self-evident? I don't think so. How exactly does America -- and I mean Americans, not the corrupt globalist sh!tbags in Washington, benefit from this?

Then you are in disagreement with the expert judgement of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff for several decades. I guess you've never heard of a little thing called the "Cold War," either?! (Of course, now "White Supremacy" is our greatest foe! /mordant sarcasm)

And the U.S. has engaged in all kinds of cultural exchanges, joint commercial endeavors, and scientific cooperations with every manner of tinpot dictator, tribal warlord (gift of a Bible personally signed by President Reagan during the Iran Contra Scandal, anyone?), and geopolitical enemy since time immemorial. That proves nothing!

Russia has more than 6,000 nuclear warheads, and a majority of them are aimed at American assets. At what else would they be aimed? Antarctica?! South America?!

And based on what I know now, I consider it perfectly reasonable for any foreign country to do whatever is necessary to protect itself from predation by the United States.

Said no true American patriot, ever!

3. Membership in NATO

It's not just about Ukraine possibly joining - it's the principle of ever conceding Russia a veto-right with regards to membership in NATO.

Anything which weakens, embarrasses, distracts, or otherwise isolates a country whose vast nuclear arsenal is focused on the U.S. is to our benefit. Anything which strengthens, emboldens, or otherwise benefits such a geopolitical foe is to our detriment.

Regards,

This is not the sterling endorsement you think it is.

I guess you've never heard of a little thing called the "Cold War," either?!

Cold War's been over for over thirty years. Hence "at least not anymore."

Others might beg to differ. To me, it says that our government's beef with Russia has nothing to do with ideals about 'democracy' or 'freedom' whatnot, but pure anti-Russian animus (because even those think in terms of 'realpolitik' would look at our current actions and wonder what we're doing).

Russia has more than 6,000 nuclear warheads, and a majority of them are aimed at American assets. At what else would they be aimed? Antarctica?! South America?!

Makes you think that increased cooperation instead of increased antagonism would be preferable, doesn't it? But nah, let's encourage the nuclear powers to have pissing contests with each other.

Said no true American patriot, ever!

Given the current makeup of Washington D.C. and the filth they seem hellbent on pushing on both Americans and the world at large, what is "patriotic" about doing ANYTHING that supports their wicked ambitions?

It's not just about Ukraine possibly joining - it's the principle of ever conceding Russia a veto-right with regards to membership in NATO.

Because I'm sure if the shoe were on the other foot, America would be just cozy with an antagonistic political/military alliance encroaching on our borders. We wouldn't dare protest, complain, or take action to counter it; we would just have to shut up and take it. I'm sure that would fly over well. /s

Anything which weakens, embarrasses, distracts, or otherwise isolates a country whose vast nuclear arsenal is focused on the U.S. is to our benefit. Anything which strengthens, emboldens, or otherwise benefits such a geopolitical foe is to our detriment.

We could have cooperated with Russia (with whom we have far more in common on a cultural level) to economically contain or compete against China. But because of mindsets like yours, America and Europe have pushed Russia fully into China's sphere (who, according to so many others on this website and elsewhere who are not alexander_busek, is actually our greatest geopolitical foe).

Great job.

My goodness — are you so tone-deaf that you’d hold these people up as pillars of credibility and integrity? LMAO. If there’s anything that would convince me that the “Cold War” was nothing more than one of many endless manufactured crises here in America, this is it.

You sound like a smart guy, but you’re posting the kind of “GI Joe” nonsense I was parroting in high school debates. Get real, and get a grip on the world you live in.

The biggest threats to the life, liberty and well-being of Americans lie within our own government. If you haven't figured that out yet, then it's probably a good time to take a six-month sabbatical from FR and educate yourself.

Vladimir Putin, for example, never threatened to fire a single American for refusing to take a useless, dangerous "vaccine." Who the hell cares about 6,000 ICBMs pointed at America when you’ve got Soviet-style communism established right here in our own institutions?

Well depending on how one looks at it in light of the current situation the $500,000k for ‘’conflict prevention'' was well spent.
