Funny, here in KY our temps for June were well below average.
Saved me a few kilowatt hours of coal fired electricity.

El Azizia in Libya has recorded 58 degrees Celsius.
Lots of ‘We’re all Gonna DIE!’ AP photos at link. That said:

In the 4-corners region which is high desert over 5,000ft and averaging 96 to 103, it’s just Summer.

It’s CHILLY here in SW Wisconsin tonight! The two puppies I’m currently raising/training were SHIVERING, so I gave them a blanket in their kennel on the covered porch, as well as throwing a blanket over the top.
They’ll be fine - temps lower this upcoming week, all the way around.
P.S. We STILL NEED RAIN! We’ve had 2” TOTAL since JUNE...and that came this week in July! I think we’re 10” behind in rainfall right now...

Don’t do what the Death Valley Germans did in 1996.

I’ve been to Death Valley. I’ve also been to the Salt Flats. Meh. I’m a Wisconsin Girl. I. Want. Green. And LOTS of ‘fresh powder’ all Winter for outdoor sports. And ICE! I want frozen lakes for ice fishing! If I can’t have Green, I want White! :)
Don’t understand those that love the Desert Southwest, either. (Unless you’re born there and don’t know any better...)
What is intriguing about burning hot weather, a lack of actual WATER anywhere to be found, Lizards and Cactus? ;)

I am sure Phoenix is worse, but it is still 102° at 1900 hours in NW Tucson.
AKA, another desert summer..................
Not good for easterners or Californians.

At those temperatures, if you go indoors into a building which has been air-conditioned down to 95°, it feels COLD when you enter.

1913 also was when Death Valley hit its coldest recorded temperature ever

The Death Valley Germans spent some time there since they stole the American flag from that cabin.
If they walked back to the cabin instead of trying to cross a mountain ridge to get to Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake their chances of living would have greatly increased.
