They can, actually, if all they want is sex. Many younger men will happily accept a "quickie" from a halfway decent looking woman of almost any age.

But most older women don't want quick, no-commitment sex (however much they might deny it). They want an alpha man who brings good looks AND status, and wealth, and commitment, and a whole laundry list of other attributes. Which most young men (and most men) can't provide.

Older women are frustrated because the few older men who check all the boxes (status, wealth, good looks, etc.) can take their pick of women, and usually opt for a younger model.

I know THREE women who married men their age or slightly younger in their very late 30s/40s. Here is what set them apart:

One, they had kept their purity. Two had been religious sisters and left for solid reasons. The third had severe health issues that made marriage unrealistic at the time.

Two, they were feminine in bearing and demeanor, all in different ways.

Three, they held their standards on important thing (values, faith, permanence of marriage, things like that).

Four, they would make allowances for things other women might dismiss a fellow for (height, mediocre job, shyness, foreign nationality/different race).

If you choose right once, then you just have to work on the marriage (barring early death).

Hey man, there are some very good-looking cougars out there who get plenty of attention, and lots of young men who like them. There are many women who age gracefully, and so far I’m shaping up to be one of them despite all my body has been through. I’m routinely mistaken for 5-10 years younger than my actual age, and until I was about 27 or 28, I was mistaken for 16. That was annoying.
