War is a racket, by Smedley Butler should be required reading. It’s basically a for-profit enterprise and the people making the money are the ones making the decisions and theur corporate backers. Nasty business all the way around.

I actually knew a guy that got wealthy on the first gulf war. He was a fairly moderate income lawyer…guessing 100k a year or less??? Just looking at his cars, house etc.
Well he got insider information that black rock was going to get much of the supporting contracts for the war. He used all his savings maybe even borrowed on his house and invested in B.R.
About 4 years into the mess he retired. Last I heard from his grown up kid is his “job” is he travels around the country to casinos and is a semi-pro poker player.
